"...Prevention Now, Wellness and Success Forever!"
Columbus County DREAM Center, Inc. has promoted empowerment of youth, their families, and their communities since 1991.
Originally begun as the Alcohol and Drug Prevention Coalition (ADPC), DREAM Center expanded its services to address many of the underlying causes of substance abuse: poor health, lack of education, unemployment, poverty, and numerous other conditions that promote substance abuse. Thus, ADPC transitioned into the DREAM Center in 1997 when the organization relocated to a facility located in a historically African American neighborhood which was donated by a local businesswoman to be used to benefit the community.
DREAM Center has provided service in health [infant mortality reduction, HIV/AIDS, substance abuse, prostate cancer, diabetes, summer food services, teen pregnancy prevention]; education [after school tutoring and summer enrichment, mentoring for court referred youth, GED and basic skills]; technology [computer literacy for youth and adults]; community development [financial literacy classes for youth and adults, family resource center]; housing [counseling, purchase and subsidies; intermediary for job placement] and advocacy.
To empower the Columbus County community toward a healthy and safe environment with the firm belief that the DREAM Center will provide the entire community a hand of hope.
